Lorraine earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences with a minor in Biochemistry from the University of Arizona. She completed her Dietetic Internship at Lenoir-Rhyne University, and was accredited her RDN designation through the Commission on Dietetic Registration in 2016. Lorraine went on to earn her CNSC (Certified Nutrition Support Clinician) and IFNCP (Integrative and Functional Nutrition Certified Practitioner) designations in 2019 and 2023, respectively. During her Dietetic Internship, Lorraine completed rotations at various locations, including Mission Hospital and Haywood Regional Medical Center in North Carolina. After the completion of her internship, she moved to Phoenix, AZ where she worked as a clinical dietitian at Dignity Heath St. Joseph’s Hospital and HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center. Most recently, Lorraine served as an outpatient dietitian in the endocrinology department at The Mayo Clinic in Arizona.

 

As a registered dietitian, Lorraine acts as a medical practitioner who specializes in medical nutrition therapy and nutrition support. When applying her expertise in the inpatient hospital setting, Lorraine is part of the medical team comprised of doctors, nurses, speech pathologists, and pharmacists that assess patients and make determinations on individualized care. Lorraine has extensive experience with nutrition management of patients who are malnourished, require nutrition support (i.e. tube feedings), in addition to implementing nutritional plans that support critically ill patients through their specific conditions and treatments. Lorraine has treated patients in the ICU, trauma ICU, medical/surgical, telemetry, orthopedics, transplant, oncology, and neurology floors. When working in the outpatient clinic, Lorraine meets with patients one-on-one to review their health conditions. During her consultations, she makes clinical assessments and provides targeted nutrition education that supports the prevention, mitigation, or recovery of related ailments. At Mayo Clinic, Lorraine has treated patient populations in the radiation-oncology, oncology, and endocrinology departments. She was a member of the Mayo Clinic wellness subcommittee, working alongside other dietitians to revise and improve network-wide educational documents and materials.
